Polytope Networks is a decentralised autonomous organisation (DAO) that seeks to introduce a new degree of openness and equity to venture capital investing. The Ethereum blockchain-based network enables anyone to invest in early-stage startups and acquire exposure to their potential growth.
Rather than investing in individual companies, Polytope Network employs a novel “portfolio funds” model in which investors can pool their funds into a diversified portfolio of startups. The DAO and its community members collectively make investment decisions based on a consensus mechanism for the portfolio funds.
By eliminating intermediaries and giving investors direct input on investment decisions, the network seeks to provide a more democratic and transparent approach to venture capital investing. Polytope Network also seeks to reduce startup funding entry barriers by allowing anyone, regardless of wealth or location, to invest in early-stage companies.
Polytope Network raised $1.8 million in a seed funding round in September 2021. The funding round was led by Polychain Capital, a well-known blockchain investment firm, and also included participation from other notable investors such as Alameda Research, CMS Holdings, and Coinfund.
